Skowhegan – Elizabeth “Betty” Bisson, 98, passed away at a local hospital on January 28, 2013. She was born October 15, 1914 in Skowhegan the daughter of Joseph E. and Amanda (Turcotte) Lessard.

Betty graduated from Bloomfield Academy, now known as Skowhegan Area High School, class of 1932. She married William T. Bisson in June 1948 in Skowhegan.

Betty was employed in the offices of Somerset Shoe Company, the Independent Reporter, and Skowhegan Water Company. She retired after working for over 16 years as a credit manager for Redington-Fairview General Hospital.

She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Skowhegan Women’s Club, Redington-Fairview Hospital Auxiliary, and the Women’s Legislative Council of Maine. She was a communicant of Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church.

She was predeceased by her husband Bill in October 1997; brothers, Raymond, Normand, Joseph and Alcide; and sister Catherine Clukey.

Betty is survived by her son, Brian Bisson and his wife Richarda and grandchildren, Benjamin and Alexander of Poland, OH.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11am, Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church, Skowhegan. Interment at Calvary Cemetery, Skowhegan will be held at a later date.
