Steve J Pomerleau, 62, of Skowhegan, passed away on November 4, 2014 after a long battle with cancer and heart complications. He was born in Harmony, June 10, 1952, the son of Armand and Laureanne (Roy) Pomerleau. Steve attended Harmony School and completed his education at Skowhegan High School.

Steve was friendly and very personable. During his life, he worked as a mechanic at Folgerty’s gas station, was a highly skilled woodcutter, worked as a truck engine account manager for the Caterpillar company, managed the Searsport Irving station, and was employed by Irving Tannery.

Steve chose to revisit his childhood roots at the family farm in Harmony to provide round-the-clock care during his Mom’s last two years of life.

Throughout his youth he belonged to 4-H clubs. He was an avid horseman who competed at horse shows on his mare “Toni Jean”. Together, they were a winning team. Steve had a great love for all animals; especially his horses and his dogs. He loved Nascar racing and had the opportunity of traveling to Daytona to watch this sport first hand.

Steve is survived by his brothers, Bruce Pomerleau and his wife Gina of Lyman, Maurice Pomerleau and his wife Betty of Harmony, his sister Linda Cooley and her husband Jeffrey of Harmony, his nephews; Kevin , Greg, Dylan, Corey , Erik, his niece Teresa, aunts and uncles from Canada. Close friends: Edna and David and his beloved dog and best friend Brandi.

Steve was predeceased, by his parents, grandparents, and two brothers, John and Francis.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, November 15, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at Notre Dame de Lourdes, Water St., Skowhegan Maine. Arrangements are under the care of Smart and Edwards Funeral home. Interment will be in St. Martin, Quebec in the spring.
