Obituary

Pamela J. Izon, of Harmony, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and her husband Tom on Resurrection Sunday April 24, 2011, following her courageous battle with cancer. She was born June 16, 1953 in Lincoln, Maine, the daughter of Glenn Sr. and Joyce (Hamilton) Speed. Pam attended Hodgdon High School in Hodgdon, Maine; she later received her bachelor’s degree in Christian Education from Trinity College of Florida. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Harmony. Pam was a special speaker to Lady Ministries all over New England down to Florida. She greatly enjoyed being Pastor Thomas Izon’s wife. Pam was an excellent math teacher, she enjoyed investing in the children’s lives that she taught, and she also enjoyed refereeing and coaching volleyball for the Christian school league. More than anything, she loved being a wife, mom, and Grammie. Pam loved to knit, pick berries, and bake. She is survived by her three children; Cynthia Izon of Norridgewock, Elizabeth Rochette and her husband Richard, their children; Carson and Lila Rochette all of Golden Lake, Ontario, Philip Izon and his wife Tammy, their children; Kendra and Audrey all of Norridgewock, her parents Glenn and Joyce Speed of Phenix City, AL, three siblings; Glenn Speed Jr. and his wife Eileen of Phenix City, AL, Rebecca Madasz and her husband David of Palm Harbor, FL, Gary Speed and his wife Melanie of Howland, ME, numerous nieces and nephews to whom she loved being Aunt Pammy, her father and mother-in-law; Thomas and Roberta Izon of Harmony, and a special sister-in-law Kay Johnson and her husband Richard of Clearwater, FL. She was predeceased by her husband Rev. Thomas E. Izon in March 2009 and one sister, Kathy Welch. Visitation will be held on Wednesday April 27, 2011 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Harmony, High Street, Harmony, Maine. A funeral service will be held on Thursday April 28, 2011 at 4 p.m. at the Harmony Elementary School, Main Street, Harmony, Maine, burial will follow the service at the Chadbourne Cemetery in Harmony, Maine. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine.
