Nancy
Duguay
Dec 14, 1933 — Feb 9, 2026
Our sweet, loving, strong, gracious mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Nancy Jane (Wright) Duguay, left this earth on Monday, February 9th, 2026, at the age of 92, with family by her side.
Nancy was born in Pittsfield, Maine, on December 14, 1933. She was the second daughter of Ruth (Hunter) Wright and Bernard A. Wright. Nancy was blessed with remarkable, caring parents who helped shape her character and kindness. She was predeceased by her parents and her two sisters, Betty Lou (Wright) Debe and Sue Ann (Wright) McDonald.
Nancy and her family moved to Skowhegan when she was five years old, and she resided there for the rest of her life. As a young woman, she enjoyed her horses, flowers, and spending summers on Lake Wesserunsett. Nancy graduated from Skowhegan Area High School in 1951 and attended Mount Ida College in Newton, Massachusetts. She married John Duguay in 1954, and together they had three children. Nancy worked as a medical secretary for doctors in the Skowhegan area, contributing her intelligence and organizational skills.
Nancy was the force that brought the family together during birthdays, holidays, and especially summer gatherings by the pool, which was an oasis surrounded by beautiful flowers. Nancy’s strength and independence were remarkable and inspiring. Simple and practical was her way. She always prioritized her health, which contributed to her 92 incredible years. Nancy was a valuable member of her community and a wonderful friend in her neighborhood. She regularly met with friends and classmates for lunch and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. We are so proud of the legacy that she leaves behind.
She is survived by her husband, John; her children, Pamela and her husband Chris Foster, Johnny and his wife Debbie Duguay, and Brent and his wife Lisa Duguay. Nancy is survived by her grandchildren, Brekin Clement, Braden and his wife Nicole Clement, Christy Duguay, Misty Duguay, Jackie and her husband Patrick McDonough, and Lauren and her husband Brandan Beane.
She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Brekin’s son Spencer Ireland; Braden and Nicole’s children Ellis, Margot, and Russell; Christy’s children Nyko, Jahlil, and Monica; Misty’s children David, Orion, Lily, and Kairo; Jackie and Patrick’s children, Leah and Hallie; and Lauren and Brandan’s children, Eli and Laney.
A special thank you to her beloved extended family who visited her at the end of her life — Judy, Dana, Lorraine, Faye, Melody, Toni, and Patty — you are the best. Thank you for all the love and prayers from our cousins, aunts, and uncles. We are grateful to RFGH, Lakewood Nursing Home, and Hospice Care for their compassionate care and support. Nancy was rich with people who loved her very much.
Rest in peace, our dear mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. You have, by example, taught us all well, and we are forever grateful. As Brekin says, “We will miss her every day.”
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 9th, 2026, at 2 pm at the Somerset Valley Remembrance Center, located at 19 Washburn Lane, Skowhegan.
