Madison, Maine – Michelle Lynn Vanadestine-Hoskins, 43, chose to finalize her journey on this earthly plain on Monday, December 18, 2017. Michelle shared her shining personality with everyone and anyone that was fortunate enough to know her and they were truly blessed.
Michelle was born on May 16, 1974 in Skowhegan, Maine to the parents of Robert L. & Charlene E. (Cooley) Vanadestine. Michelle’s life was devoted to her two children Chelsea and Joshua and everything she did was for them. Michelle married Lewis F. Hoskins on December 16, 2006 and they were able to make many memories over the years that Lewis will cherish forever.
Michelle graduated from Madison High School in 1992. Michelle also became a certified massage therapist in 2007. Michelle was a hard worker and committed to her employers. She has done many jobs over the years from working at the hospital, in-home health care with Helping Hands, George’s Banana Stand and construction with Cianbro. She considered her co-workers at New Balance as part of her family. She began working at McDonalds in high school and continued to work their part time over the years because she enjoyed people.
Michelle’s zest for life had many focuses and interests with her main interest being her love she had for her family and her two dogs Jasper and Maybelle. She was an exceptional baker and found such enjoyment in cooking for her family and friends. She enjoyed camping, hunting, four wheeling and anything outdoors. She was also becoming a top notch wine maker.
Those that were fortunate to know Michelle, know she was a loving person with the biggest heart. She was selfless and generous and was always helping anyone that needed it. Michelle had a very sarcastic side and was one of the best comedic story tellers that always had her audience laughing.
Michelle is survived by her husband Lewis F. Hoskins of Madison, Me; her two children Chelsea Vanadestine and her fiancé Jake Raymond and her son Joshua Vanadestine both of Madison; her mother Charlene Vanadestine of Fairfield, her brother Robert W. Vanadestine and his wife Roseanna of Skowhegan, her brother Chris Vanadestine of Fairfield and his partner KaTina Howes of Prospect and her best friend and sister Andra Vanega and her husband Francisco of Cabot, Arkansas.
Other survivors include: her mother in law Lorraine Hoskins of Skowhegan, her stepchildren Joe Hoskins and his fiancé Ashley Smart and Josh Hoskins and his wife Tara all of Orono and her two grandsons whom she adored, Killian Hoskins and Emmett Hoskins. Michelle’s family is large and extended and included many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Michelle was predeceased by her father Robert L. Vanadestine and her father-in-law Frank H. Hoskins.
A Visiting hour will be held one hour prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday December 22, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine with the service to follow at 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Somerset Humane Society, PO Box 453, Skowhegan, Maine 04976. They also would like to take this time to share a resource to raise the awareness of suicide. The Suicide Hotline is 1-800-273-TALK (8255). No family should have to endure this pain.
