Oakland – Michael (Mike) Errol Chiott, 77 of Oakland passed away Wednesday May 13th, 2026, with his daughters Cynthia Chiott & Amy Maheu by his side at Augusta Maine General.
Mike was born in Skowhegan on January 23rd, 1949, the son of Graham G. Chiott and Myra Stafford (Blake).
Mike was formerly retired as a laborer at Lakeview Lumber. He worked also at a cemetery, maintenance, and Avian Farms. He was a person who loved to work, never going long without taking up a new role.
He loved his family and friends, loved being outside in the summertime, loved watching movies with his kids and his grandkids, and boxing. Mike was a former Golden Glove Boxer. He dearly missed the love of his life, Sue Ann Chiott, who passed October 26, 2015.
Mike is predeceased by his wife, Sue Chiott, Daughter Michelle Jeanne Chiott (1974), Brothers Joe Chiott, Pat Chiott, and sisters Lynn Baker and Brenda Pottle, and by several aunts, uncles, and friends.
Mike is survived by his brother Nelson Trask of Oakland/Smithfield, his children Cynthia Chiott of Oakland, Amy Maheu and husband Elmer of Shapleigh, Chris Woodbury and wife Melissa of Skowhegan, Michael R Chiott of Pittsfield, Rose Marie Chiott, grandchildren Kayla Mcaffery and Morgan McCaffery, great grandchildren Emma and Jackson Buker, and Aubery Coates. Several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
There will be no services at Michael’s request. A Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
A special thank you goes out to his daughters Cynthia and Amy, Charlie, Tracey, Michelle, Melisa, Krista, and Amy S.
