SKOWHEGAN – Martha Ann Roullard, 89, passed away on December 3, 2016, at Cedar Ridge Center following a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Her family was by her side. The daughter of Karl Roullard and Agnes Groder Roullard, Martha was born on October 14, 1927 in Skowhegan. She was a graduate of the 1945 Class of Skowhegan High School and remained an active classmate attending many high school reunions over the years. Following graduation Martha was employed with Sterns Department Store and then moved to St. Petersburg, FL, returning to Maine in the 1950s. Upon her return to Skowhegan, Martha began employment with Hight Chevrolet serving as a bookkeeper and office manager and remained with the dealership for over 30 years. She then worked for Dr. Carlton Swett as office manager of his practice until her retirement in the late 1980s. Martha was an avid golfer and truly loved the sport. She was a long-time member of the Lakewood Ladies Golf Association and received many trophies and awards over the years. She continued to play golf well into her late 70s. A communicant of Notre Dame de Lourdes church in Skowhegan, Martha was very active in the parish. She served for several years on the parish council, taught religious education to high school students in the 1960s and 70s and up until her illness was an active participant in the RCIA program. Martha is survived by her two brothers, George P. Roullard of San Diego, CA and Donald E. Roullard of Gorham, Maine, a niece, Diane M. Barnes and her husband Carleton Barnes, Jr., of Lisbon, Maine, and two nephews, Bruce A. Roullard, of Gorham, Maine and Kenneth Roullard of CA. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 16 at 10AM at Notre Dame de Lourdes Church, Water St., Skowhegan, Maine. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Redington Memorial Home and Cedar Ridge Center for providing outstanding care as well as Beacon Hospice for its support and care for the remaining time of Martha’s life.
