Lillian R. Meader, 81, of Skowhegan, passed away on Monday March 5, 2012 at Somerset Rehab and Living Center in Bingham, Maine. She was born March 7, 1930 in Passaic, New Jersey, the daughter of Roy K. Wilds and Mary (Kostic) Wilds. She was educated in the New Jersey schools. Lillian married Eugene Meader on April 4, 1958 in New York, he passed away in 2000. She served breakfast and lunch at the Academy School in Skowhegan, and then she went to work at New Balance Shoe Company in Skowhegan as a repairer for a number of years. She spent many years as a homemaker also. Lillian loved scratching lottery tickets and having coffee at West Front Market with the morning crew. She also enjoyed playing bingo, playing cribbage, and listening to music. She loved spending time with her family and she especially enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren, so her daughters could work. Lillian had a zest for life and enjoyed every minute of each day. She is survived by her two daughters; Michele Brown and her husband Greg of Skowhegan, Sara Cates and her husband Michael of Skowhegan, four grandchildren; Nicholas, Alex, Aaron, and Autumn, several nieces and nephews, one sister in-law Sukie Davis of Cornville, and the gang from the West Front Market. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her brothers; Roy and Fred. Special thanks to the staff at Redington Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan, Beacon Hospice, and Somerset Rehab and Living Center. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday March 18, 2012 from 10 am to 2 pm at the Skowhegan/ Madison Elks Lodge, Silver St., Skowhegan, Maine. A graveside service will be held in the spring at the Southside Cemetery in Skowhegan, Maine, with Rev. Mark Tanner officiating. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine.
