Joyce A. (Peterson) Lanctot, 76, went to be with the Lord, March 14, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 9, 1941 in St. Albans on the family farm, the daughter of Herbert and Dorothy (Burton) Peterson. She was educated in the surrounding schools of Hartland. She went back in 1972 to Marty Stevens Learning Center and earned her diploma, she was very proud of this accomplishment. Joyce married her husband of 50 years, John Lanctot, on July 22, 1967 in Lewiston. They moved back to Skowhegan a few years later. Joyce had a great love for her family and always enjoyed all the family gatherings. In 1978 she found another great love, she became a Christian and remained a devoted Christian for the remainder of her life. Joyce was always a hard worker and most of the time it was alongside of her husband John. She worked in shoe shops, Scott Paper, they owned restaurants, and they were both custodians for the Skowhegan School District. She had a deep love and compassion for animals, having a few dogs in her life she loved very much. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Her passion and hobbies included gardening, canning and cooking. She enjoyed poetry and listening to gospel music. There was never a person who left her home hungry. Joyce is survived by her husband, John Lanctot of Skowhegan; her son Steve and Darlene Hawkes of Newport; daughters, Cindy Salisbury and her husband Pete, Bonny Folsom and her husband David all of Skowhegan; step-daughter, Lisa Gilbert of Augusta; five grandchildren, Jenni Goodblood, Rachael Houghton and her husband Albert, Josh Salisbury and his wife Erin, David Folsom II and his wife Bobbi, Kasey Sinclair and her husband Andy; and ten great-grandchildren, Hunter and Ryver Goodblood, Gabe, Jake and Eli Houghton, Camryn and Lauren Salisbury, Amelia and Tres Folsom, and Harrison Sinclair. Joyce was a much loved grandmother and will be sadly missed. She was predeceased by her parents, three brothers, Harvey and Virgil Martin and Ronnie Peterson and step-daughter Debra Pomelow. A time of visiting will be held on Monday March 20, 2017 from 1 to 2 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. at the Centenary United Methodist Church, Dr. Mann Rd., Skowhegan, Maine, with Pastor Rick Doiran officiating. A graveside committal service will be held in the spring at the Village Cemetery in St. Albans, Maine. A special thank you goes out to the Cedar Ridge Nursing Center , Pine House Unit, for all the staff who took such loving care of Joyce.
