James A. Rowell Jr., 94, of Norridgewock and Palmyra, passed away at his home in Norridgewock, Maine, with his daughter Janice, his son James and his granddaughter Desteny by his side. He was born June 11, 1923 in Liberty, Maine, the son of James A. Rowell Sr. and Geraldine (Linscott) Rowell. James was educated in Dixmont Schools. He owned and operated Rowell Logging with two sons. He drove truck hauling wood for many years. He drove log truck until the age of 92. He enjoyed going to Velero in Newport and Wright’s General Store in Hartland visiting with his friends. He also loved to go hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife Beverly (Staples) Rowell of Palmyra; his ten children, Janet Nadeau and her companion Jim Town of Pittsfield, Mervin Rowell and his wife Jackie of Pittsfield, Ernie Rowell and his wife Jean of St. Albans, Lorie DeLong and her husband Michael of Merrimack, NH, James A. Rowell III of Norridgewock, Janice Rowell-Carter and her husband Anthony of Norridgewock, his adopted daughter Angie Kennedy and her husband Mark of Newport, Jesse Munroe and his husband Shawn of Vassalboro, Jessford Rowell and his fiancé Amy Pellerin of Winslow, Jessen Rowell of Palmyra, Justin Rowell of Palmyra; many grandchildren, many great-grandchildren; his cat, Kitty Cat. He was predeceased by his mother and father; his daughters, Shirley Ann Rowell and Jane Rowell Cianchette. A Graveside service will be held on June 11, 2018 at 1 p.m. at the Hunt Cemetery in Liberty, Maine. Arrangements are under the care of Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine.
