Obituary

James W. Keddrell, 69 of Skowhegan passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at the Veterans Hospice Center, Togus, Maine. He was born September 17, 1942, in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine, the son of Laurel Daniel Keddrell and Rosalie G. (Buzzell) Keddrell Cookson. He attended and graduated from Maine Central Institute in the class of 1962. James then entered the US Air Force serving from August, 1962 thru October 1972. He later attended Northern Maine Vocational Technical Institute in Presque Isle from 1980 – 1982 receiving an Associate’s Degree in Applied Technology. James worked for the United States Postal Service; in 1984 in Limestone, 1985 in Liberty, in 1987 he made his final move to Belgrade where he worked until he retired in 2008. Also, in 1994 he and Camilla co-owned J & C Photography in Skowhegan until 2004. James married Camilla N. (Scott) Cook on June 19, 1993 in Skowhegan, Maine. He loved traveling, photography, reading and camping. He is survived by his loving wife of 18 years Camilla Keddrell of Skowhegan, his mother Rosalie Keddrell Cookson of Pittsfield, daughter Tarja Keddrell of Bath, son Mitchell Keddrell and his wife Christy and children Sarah, Amanda, Alexa, Jacob and Dallas of Mississippi, step-daughter Vicki Lyman and her fiancé Mike Palmer and children Ben and Emily all of Skowhegan, step-son Alan Cook and his wife Sue and daughter Tori all of Standish, sisters; Susan Carey and her husband Greg of Waterville, Linda Smith of W. Virginia, Deborah Keddrell of W. Virginia, brothers; Philip Keddrell and his wife Joan of New York, Jeff Keddrell of W. Virginia, Rodney and Daniel Keddrell of Texas, sisters in-law; Donna Cookson of Benton, Sherry Cookson of Burnham, Linda Chandler of Skowhegan, Christine Testori and her husband Eddie of CT., his ex-wife and friend Linda Keddrell of Pittsfield, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, sister Nancy Stone, brothers; Stephen Cookson, Larry Cookson, and his first wife Jerlene. The family would like to thank the staff at the Togus VA Hospice Center for the wonderful care he received during his time there. There will be a gathering to celebrate James’ life and to share memories on Sunday October 9, 2011 from 4 to 7 p.m., at Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine. There will be no formal funeral or memorial service. Burial will be private.
