Elaine J. Pomelow, 82, of Skowhegan, passed away Wednesday October 31, 2012 in Skowhegan, Maine. She was born February 10, 1930 in Skowhegan, Maine, the daughter of Michel F. Breton and Leona C. (Lagasse) Breton. Elaine graduated from Skowhegan High School in the class of 1948. She married Nathan A Pomelow on August 14, 1948 in Skowhegan; he passed away in August of 2001. For several years, Elaine worked at Norrwock Shoe Company and Dexter Shoe Company both in Skowhegan. She spent most of her life as a homemaker and a mother of five boys. A past member of the East Madison Ladies Fire Auxiliary and she used to belong to the Knit-Wits Knitting Club in Skowhegan. She won awards at the local fairs for her knitting and paintings she and her husband enjoyed going to the coast. Elaine is survived by her five sons; Dennis Pomelow of Skowhegan, James Pomelow and his wife Glenna of Cornville, Stephen Pomelow and his wife Donna of Skowhegan, William Pomelow and his wife Martha of Norridgewock, Timothy Pomelow and his wife Midge of Solon, two brothers; Norman Breton and his wife Kitty of Dexter, Paul Breton and his wife Nancy of Maine and Florida, one sister Natalie Pomelow of Skowhegan, her grandchildren; Brandon, Nolan, Erin, Garrett, Nathan, Charity, Kaylee, Kody, Mike, Marcy, and many step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother and father, and her brother Thomas “Mickey” Breton. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday November 8, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church, Water St., Skowhegan, Maine, with a burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Skowhegan with father John Mazzei officiating. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine.
